Automattic commissioned Get Current Studio to collaborate with an engineer on a significant update to the Newspack Elections plugin, encompassing both functionality and aesthetics. The profiles block within this plugin holds the potential to be a valuable asset for hundreds of news organizations covering local and national elections.

THE CITY, a non-profit, New York based newsroom was in need of a fresh take on their about pages. They called on us to rethink ways of better positioning their message. Here’s what we came up with.

The Defender

We revamped The Defender’s website, focusing on audience segmentation to drive engagement and growth for this key voice in Houston’s Black community. Our user research-driven design informed information architecture. New content templates have created a more dynamic online experience, increasing audience engagement and supporting The Defender’s mission of serving its community.

The Emancipator

With its bold vision for journalism, they were held back by an outdated website that couldn’t match its ambitions. Migrating to Newspack opened up a world of possibilities, allowing us to revitalize their online presence and create a platform that truly reflects their impactful editorial vision.
